This is a single stage power factor corrected isolated flyback LED driver intended for lighting applications such as down lights, PAR lamps and residential/commercial indoor and outdoor LED fixtures. The NCL30000 is based on a fixed on-time, critical conduction mode (CrM) flyback topology. The board is designed to provide 350 mA of constant current and drive up to 15 W of LEDs in a single string. Closed loop regulation of the LED current is achieved which results in accurate current regulation across a range of LEDs forward voltage and line conditions. The design is power factor corrected with a nominal PF of >0.96. The design supports an input range of 90-305 Vac which include the US commercial lighting voltage of 277 Vac. Unlike the other two reference designs in this series, this version of the board is designed for static lighting applications that do not require line dimming

The CAT4101 is a low dropout current sink capable of driving strings of high-brightness LEDs up to 1A. The current sink is programmed by a single resistor from the RSET pin to GND. Enable and dimming control is available via the EN/PWM pin. A six pin header receptacle is available to connect strings of LED modules. If LED modules are not available, a separate LED string can be used by connecting the cathode end to the LED test point.

The NCL30105 is a peak current controlled fixed off time buck controller designed for LED driver applications. It is optimized to operate in deep continuous conduction mode eliminating the need for output electrolytic capacitors. Featuring an adjustable off time generator, the controller can drive a MOSFET up to a switching frequency of 500 kHz. A dedicated dimming pin enables the use of a pulsewidth modulated logic signal to dim the LED directly. The soft-start pin creates a startup sequence that slowly ramps up the peak current and enables the adjustment of the peak current set point for analogue dimming control. The device features robust protection features to detect switch overcurrent faults and to detect maximum on time events.

The board can support from 4-15 LEDs in series.

The CAT4237 is a high voltage CMOS constant-current DC/DC converter that has been designed to drive with high efficiency white or other high brightness LEDs. The high-voltage output stage allows driving up to 8 white LEDs in series. A single external resistor sets the LED current between 5mA and 30mA. LED current can be adjusted using either a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal or a DC voltage. Detailed descriptions and electrical characteristics are in the CAT4237 data sheet. The evaluation board contains a CAT4237 DC-DC boost converter and an array of white LEDs. As configured, the board circuit is set to drive up to 8 white LEDs in series. The user can chose to connect the CAT4237 output to the LEDs string available on board or to an external LEDs string from an application.
